IJCF Superintend is leaving as of June 2. WOW! So another Superintendent at IJCF is biting the dust! Only according to staff he chooses to leave. Can’t say as I blame the guy.
Let’s consider these facts:
1) Having J. David Donahue as a boss.
2) Being scared to death about the DOJ audit.
3) Being held responsible for the DOJ audit.
4) Being fired because of the DOJ audit (even though JDD and John Nally was and is responsible for all the problems at IJCF).
5) Having his reputation and good name tarnish because JDD has to have someone to shift the blame off too. (Sound familiar, I’m sure he has seen it happen many times before and knows he must get out of IJCF before he has no reputation left.)
Again I say:DITCH MITCH IN NOVEMEBER and his little dog too!!

Who is JDD going to shove this on now? Even acting?? JDD has spent the last couple years beating up on Fran, he might name her as Acting just for his fun to keep using her as a punching bag. Or is he going to send Hardwick back again?
JDD will pick someone probably with no juvenile experience at all. He will pick someone probably who is on his sh!t list, someone whos career he wants to end. Hardwick would be too much sense. Or maybe he'll just have a whole big new shuffle of all the supts and asst supts. Or maybe he'll hire someone from another state another system, who doesn't know anything about the problems we've had to fix for DOJ, who of course isn't going to have a degree or be qualified in anyway except that he will impress JDD by being in awe of his greatness. No matter what, IJCF isn't going to get better anytime soon.
wonder what input kelly whitcomb is going to have. wonder what input she is having.
Kelly Whitcomb will do as told. She is no rival for JDD. She is way over her head in the JDD arena. But that is the way little David likes them.
I would normally feel sorry for someone in Whitcombs position, however some of the people (including her) who have stepped on people and treated most (and I do mean MOST) of their people downright inhumanely deserve the same treatment that they are no doubt recieving in central office. What goes around comes around...
3:52 you are so right. I have seen first hand how JDD treats people, and then I have seen those same people turn around and treat their own people the very same way. I don't feel sorry for them anymore. They can feel sorry for themselves. And they should feel ashamed. What goes around will come around.
IJCF can not afford another Suptintendent who is going to decide to get the HECK out of dodge, get fired, get demoted, get transfered, or not like kids. This is insane. This is wrong. Do you think it would be possible for somebody at the top to swallow a little crow and bring somebody in who can TRUN THINGS AROUND. Somebody who is committed to the mission, the kids, the staff. Is that asking too much. We are drowning here. We can't breath. We need some experience. We need leadership. We need somebody who knows what they are doing. Names have been mentioned in the TWD blog and now this one by old timers. Come on Donahue. Suck it up!
There is no way Donahue is going to "eat crow" and admit any wrong or appoint anyone trusted and respected in the department. MAYBe for the short term, "acting"...but then he'll hire in someone from outside the department, just like he did when he got Rivenburg in the first place. Didn't work out too well for you, did it Dave???
But I don't blame Rivenburg. He got played.
Donahue has himself in a huge mess. But he will minimize. He will ignore. Makes no difference to him who he puts in as Superintendent. He places no value on the juvenile facilities. The man is too preoccupied with himself.
I know he is not bright enough to figure this out but if he would eat a little crow and bring back someone who knows what they are doing and let them run the place the way they know how to run it he could save himself a lot of grief with the Justice Dept. and others who keep knocking on his door with complaints about quality of life in facilities.
Rivenburg was not a problem. But he was unhappy. Very unhappy with his circumstance. So unhappy that he searched until he got a good offer and resigned as quickly as the offer was made. Donahue is an idiot.

Really who can undo the mess that Donahue has created in the juvenile facilities. Several persons said it right in TDW. The place has not been the same since Donahue dismantled the Division with the removal of the Deputy Commissioner, Pam Cline It was the dumbest of dumb moves. Talk about throwing out the baby with the bath water. Doing away with the position was one thing but the person too. What the hell was Donahue thinking! Stupid, mean and groundless move.
The reality is that it is four years later and she is long gone. Things are in a horrible mess and we continue to plummet. What is happening in the facilities is at a minimum negligent and probably criminal. We need help! So what are you going to do Donahue? More of the same? Destroy!
Ditch Mitch and take the little man with you.
How about having Susan Lockwood and John Nally take over....
LOL they deserve it. but the girls and staff don't.
