Ironic

It is interesting to me that Mitch Daniels (to his credit) has lessened the hassle of going to the license branches. However, when accessing the welfare system simply does not work at all, there is no sense of urgency and just spin and denial from Mitch Roob and company. This is the cynicism of the Daniels administration, which knows that a broad swath of Hoosiers really don't care whether eligible poor people can get their benefits or not.

Excellent observation.

That arrogance carries over to the issues of IDOC as well: Donahue can get away with his destruction of anything constructive or rehabilitative in the facilities because the Daniels' administration figures that same broad swath of Hoosiers don't really care about what happens to, or doesn't happen for, convicted criminals in prison. No programs? No problem! Criminals don't need 'programs', any more than they need tv or rec time or decent food, right? They just need to be locked up, out of sight/out of mind. Unfortunately for those trying to serve the public good in both FSSA or IDOC are only going to see and feel more of this sentiment: as Hoosiers struggle more and more with the economy, trying to pay for rising costs of fuel, rising costs of everything, and maybe the loss of THEIR JOBS TOO, they are going to have less and less compassion for those inside prisons or collecting any kind of welfare benefits. Of course the long term consequences of neglecting these populations doesn't come to mind, certainly not for men like Mitch Daniels or Dave Donahue. Neglecting these populations, underserving them, is going to have serious long term consequences that Hoosiers will be paying for many years to come.

DITCH MITCH IN NOVEMBER, AND HIS LITTLE DOG, TOO!
